233051 2004-04-30 03:01:00 Where can I buy those business card paper so that I can print my own from my colour printer? It is quite expensive to go to a commercial printer for small quantity like 200 copies.

Is it more economical to print our own, considering cartridge ink usage as compare to commercial printers?

Cheers

233052 2004-04-30 03:06:00 Dunno how much it would cost to do it at home but i had my cards professionally printed,$200 for 500 cards, double sides, full colour, high sheen finish that doesn't fade easily and doesn't smudge or wear off. metla (154)
233053 2004-04-30 03:19:00 It might be about the same or cheaper in terms of economics, but not in terms of what you get and what impression you want to give to your clients. To me that's more important than a few cents saved on each card.

Its always easy to spot when a card is DIY, in my opinion. Just not quite as good as a preofessionally printed card. The card stock is available from Warehouse Stationary, in sheets pre-punched. The edges are not as clean, so proper trimming on standard card stock would be preferrable.

Often the professional price is little different between 200 and 500 cards. Its the setup cost more than the printing.

233054 2004-04-30 04:19:00 I agree. I've seen DIY card, and they smudge when you spill tea on them :p

Not good, I rather they don't give me a card. Do a professional print - it's a worth while impression.

233055 2004-04-30 04:29:00 You guys are right regarding business cards being more professional when done by a printer but for a very small run (eg 50) you can apply clear contact plastic to the front of the card prior to cutting. That protects the ink from running and gives a semi-gloss finish.

Still not as good as commercially printed cards though.

bk_T if your still keen try Warehouse Stationery, Boise and office supply stores. ;-)

After weighing all the pros & cons, will go for a commercial printer.
