233198 2004-04-30 13:38:00 hey guys.

im having a bit of trouble with my internet.

for some reasons when i try to view .com sites and the likes, it really is very slow. now im only on a 56k, so i shouldnt be asking for much. now when i got to .co.nz and new zealand sites ending with .com, they work fine, still a little longer wait than they should be, but fine.

i have a bit of an unreliable phone line aswell. would it be my phone line, my Laptop, or the phone cabelling ?

im running on Ibook G3-500. 384MB RAM, os X panther 10.3.3 with all the latest updates.

cheers.

233199 2004-04-30 22:02:00 I don't really know what you want. So the net runs slow sometimes? Like wow, sometimes it stops. And the difference in loading between a .com and co.nz site you can't really argue about because we don't where the site might be hosted, for eg. I have seen somewhere that google.co.nz is hosted in the US.

You're running a mac so I dunno about 'cleaning up' the comp. Like all the cookies and temp files and stuff you get with windows. Maybe a good spring clean is what you need. Nice task for these autumn nights. :)

233200 2004-05-01 01:57:00 Certain times of the day can be slower than others when browsing the internet. Do your problems occur all the time or are they sometimes worse than at other times? tommy (2826)
233201 2004-05-01 05:01:00 i only ever use my conenction late at night. so i am unable to compare.

233202 2004-05-01 09:44:00 The first thing I would do is give the computer a full system scan with up-to-date anti-virus/trojan and spyware detection tools. See the forum's FAQ on Spyware for information. Link to FAQs top right of this page - they take a while to load so be patient.

If that doesn't help contact your ISP and explain your problem to them.

Mac's don’t get virus :D ;)

>>os X panther 10.3.3

or at least not many, I think there only aprox 3 - 4 virus out there for macs, the last time I check the Symantec Security Response page
