| 233457 | 2004-05-01 07:23:00 | Today I was surfing the net (not to 'adult' sites) and started getting the following message.... "Warning! Your computer is infeccted with a serious Software that normal virus protection packages cannot remove. They monitor your internet traffic and is a serious violation of your privacy. It is recommended that you install the latest software to remove these by going to" and then I get the choice of going to either "www. Win-Clean.net or www.PC-Boost.net ... I hav the latest update from McAfee and also run Spybot. Neither program picks up anything. Has anyone experienced this and if so how do you fix it? | johut (4183) | ||

| 233460 | 2004-05-02 02:34:00 | You can also remedy it manually (in XP): Start | Settings | Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Services In the right-hand pane, scroll down to Messenger. Right-click it, select Properties. In the Startup-Type box select Disabled. Under Service Status click Stop. Exit your way out. |
