233742 2004-05-02 20:33:00 I have an mp3 file that is 202mb. I palyed it the first time and it was great. Now after 30 minutes it stops and won't play further. After investigation I find that it can only see 30mb of file and not the rest. Anything I can do about this??

Thanks

233743 2004-05-02 21:17:00 Thats a big mp3 file - is it supposed to be a whole CD? Its sounds as though its corrupt or perhaps its actually another file with 30MB audio and the rest data? parry (27)
233744 2004-05-03 01:40:00 Thanks for getting back to me. It is totally a music file. It was originally a live double album. I put it into sonic forge to split the tracks up and it could only see 30mb! The actual file is 202mb. Alothough it played fine the first time thru. Any ideas?? Ironman (3784)
233745 2004-05-03 02:18:00 Dunno I havent got Sonic Forge. Perhaps you have a trial version and it's limiting the size you can split the MP3? Is the track length the same in your player (Winamp, WMPlayer etc) as it is in Sonic Forge? parry (27)
233746 2004-05-03 13:11:00 Thanks for taking the time to reply to me. I appreciate your help.

When I right click on properties of the file it shows that it is 202mb. When I play it in wav form on windows media player it shows 31mb. When I play it in mp3 form on windows media player it shows 202mb but only plays for 31 minutes. At that point it stops and won't go further. It will almost hang the program. If I try and manually move it past the 31 minute point I get nothing. Do you think the file is corrupted or there is a copyright protection going on somewhere? How can I check if that file is corrupted or there is something stopping it playing?

233747 2004-05-04 03:15:00 This might be one of the bait files planted by the copyright owners.:D Have you had a letter from the lawyers yet? Graham L (2)
233748 2004-05-04 08:04:00 Can you open the file in cooleditpro or something and cut out any bad frames if there are any?

Scandisk might fix up the incorrect file size, or as graham as said you probably downloaded a dud. It happens, stop using POS kazaa/lite.

233749 2004-05-20 13:38:00 Thanks to everyone for your advice on this. I thought you might like to know how I solved it. I downloaded the file again. Then I used a program by ashampoo called "check and convert" and converted it to a wav file. Then I used another program called "sound forge" to split it into 2 files. It now plays perfectly.

Thanks again for your help
