233829 2004-05-03 05:49:00 Hi guys

Just a few days ago I realise that my computer was acting up (real bad), the ineternet pages werent loading properly (even though I was on the net), window shuts down at random times and my other OS (Win98) wouldnt boot up any more due to some unknown reason(a while ago on Win98, the OS suddenly lost its sound drivers, and a few days later it lost its video drivers and now I cant even it booted up, I'm accessing through it with WinXp) things were just acting up . I scanned my comp with Spybot, Pc Cillin (out of date), Ad-aware, Swat It and HijackThis . I even System Scanned my comp and Defragmentered the HDD . And results were perfect, no spywares, no virus or worms and HDD is perfectly ok . Though that didnt fix my Win98 problem .

Just yesterday I went out and brought Norton Internet Security Pro and Norton System Work (damn were they expensive >_<) . Scanned my comp with Norton AV that came with Norton Internet Security and guess what, it found a worm on my Win98, it was called I think . . . Spybot32 . Just before the scan I also found these 2 files running everytime when Window is booted up, they were called "Microsoft . exe" and "Avserve . exe" . Both of those files were located in Window's folder and for some reason after I deleted those 2 files, my internet loaded properly . Though for some unknow reason, after installing Norton System Work and Norton Internet Security, the internet now sometimes loads properly and sometimes doesnt >_< . Also a day or two ago, while surfing the net, an error popped up saying that my computer is going to shutdown in 50 sec, a bit like what the Blaster32 worm would do (I do have the blaster worm patch installed) .

So to sum up all I've said, my comp is still acting up even after running most of the tests that System Work had and running Norton AV . Any suggestion on what I could do next? Or anything to fix my comp?

Info: WinXp and Win98 though I use WinXp as my main OS . Have Norton System Work and Internet Security installed . Though I have the firewall disabled .

So any suggestion or comments would be great, so sorry for such a long forum >_< .

Thanks a lot

Try turning the firewall on & then see if thing improve & that can also give you an idea on what is accessing the Internet.

233835 2004-05-03 08:34:00 Oh btw, could anyone get on to symantec's website? I've been trying to get a new definition update for my AV since yesterday, the LiveUpdate thing doesnt seem to work nor does their website. Tell me, is it just me that is having this problem?

Thanks
