233838 2004-05-03 05:41:00 I have the use of a Toshiba notebook - the screen is as dark as, so that icons and all are hard to read. Changing display settings doesn't make much difference - any pointers, out there? ausgang (5603)
233839 2004-05-04 03:03:00 Have a look at the tops of the keys for extra functions (often green print). There may be an extra "Fn" key which enables things like brightnes up/down,contrast up/down, external/internal monitor. Graham L (2)
233840 2004-05-04 05:24:00 Back-light could be dying/dead too.:(

Does it look like a lack of illumination or a brightness/contrast problem?

Cheers

233841 2004-05-04 09:42:00 You may be able to change power saving setting for full brightness, or just plug the power supply in as your laptop may be set for less than full brightness when running on battery.
If it is the backlight which is faulty you need to be very confident of your ability to work with delicate bits of plastic before attempting to change the tube!

233842 2004-05-16 21:55:00 Thanks for your replies - turned out to be a dead back-light.
The expense alone, to say nothing of the fiddly job, made it uneconomical to repair.
