| 233774 | 2004-05-03 00:28:00 | Hey there, I've had my computer for two years now and have problems with it for the past year. My computer always freezes on start up either while it's booting or when windows is configuring. I have to reboot it a couple of times before it runs ok. This happens every time i boot the computer. The problem has occured before any additional software was installed. It has had two mishaps where the computer wouldn't boot up altogether, so had been repaired by technicians. I think the PC is going to do the same thing again! CPU: AMD Duron 1.3 Ghz RAM: 256 DDR HD: 40 Gb OS: Windows XP 16 programmes usually running in the background Is defragged and virus checked regularly. Total space used: 2.67 Gb out of possible 40 Gb |

| 233775 | 2004-05-03 11:33:00 | There are a large number of things that could cause this type of problem - but in my experience faulty RAM seems to come to the top of the list. I expect you only have one stick of RAM? If not, try each stick of 128 by itself. | JohnD (509) | ||

I found there was a lot of dust in the original RAM slot (even in the pin holes. could this have been the problem. Thanx for the help... |
