Have just got a new computer (Quay Computers 3.2 Pent 4) with xppro. Whenever I attach my sony DV trv80e through the firewire port it locks the computer and either restarts itself, or I have to. It has worked a couple of times and then out of the blue starts the freeze again. The camera works fine with my laptop which has xp home. Is it an issue with xppro. Device manager shows no probs whatsoever, everything is working properly. Has anyone else had this prob? |

Hi. For what it's worth, I have XP Pro on 2 PCs, both have firewire and both have successfuly transferred files from DV camcorder and digicam. So I guess it's not an issue with XP Pro. Even tho you say device manager reports no probs, I would be inclined to try a reinstall of your video card. |

Thanks for that, it made me realise there must be something major wrong, and there was, I got the firewire card changed and all is fine. |
