| 234007 | 2004-05-03 22:51:00 | Hello, I have been trying to resolve an issue with Windows XP pro and outlook 2000 The problem is that since getting my computer upgraded to Windows XP Pro I have not been able to send attachments and emails of more than a dozen lines of text . I have tried to resolve the problem without success . After using google search I found this article about the same problem which seems to be the answer I am looking for . What I want to know what and were do I change t he command line mention below . Part of list of solutions offered at the site and final solution which resolved the issue . While is not probable have you checked with your ISP to make sure their filters are the culprit and not yours? Another thought . Maybe you can try setting Outlook to different outgoing mail server . See if it is ISP related in someway Also, many ISP's are requiring Authorized Outgoing Authentication . This is because the ISP's are trying to track and control the uploading of malicious emails by file type . I will continue to keep your situation in mind . Got it - I set it to a different outgoing server and it went through! After talking to the local ISP (this is New Zealand) it transpired that they do not support V92 or higher . They gave me a command line (+DS44=0) which turns off the V92 part and reverts to V90 which they do support . . I split the points 200/300 JonBeattie/JeffTronics when I skim read the part from Jon mentioning ISPs - I really should have phoned them then and I would have had the answer, but I knew it wasn't a question of filters . . however I phoned today out of exasperation (and because Jeff's advice had pointed clearly to the ISP as being at fault) and the first question was about filters (they don't block) which led quickly on to the solution . In retrospect I should really have been more generous to Jeff, not because Jon's advice was unsound, but because Jeff provided the prompt . And upon reading Jeff's comment more clearly, I should have given an A . Sorry Jeff, I hope these comments make up for my seeming ingratitude . FYI the ISP is Clear, for all NZers . . End Article For interest sake the link where I found this solution is . experts-exchange . com/Applications/Q_20812157 . html" target="_blank">www . experts-exchange . com Finally I can only draw the conclusion that the above solution is could fix my problem too as I use paradise . net . nz as my ISP!!!! Hope that someone can help my with the problem at the top, sorry for such a long message . Regards Terry |

| 234008 | 2004-05-03 23:54:00 | I doubt if it is a V92 modem issue as if the ISP does not support V92 the connection reverts to V90 even if it is a V92 modem that is being used. You can check if it works any better by disabling V92 and V90 by using a string which will prove if this is an issue. Control panels/Phone and Modems Click on Modem at the top and then Properties at the bottom Click on Advanced at the top Extra Initialization commands- If you have a common soft 56k modem such as Conexant or Intel Ham then add +MS=V34 If it is something else you will need to advise the modem type as the string might be different. If connecting at V34 does not fix the problem then it is not an issue with V92 Make sure you Outgoing server in Outlook is - smtp.paradise.net.nz Tools/Accounts Click Mail Tab Click Properties on the right Click Servers at the top. |

| 234009 | 2004-05-04 05:02:00 | Thanks Jim for the prompt reply, you're right it didn't fixed the problem at all. I guess I am back to square one. Tried everything possible to solve the problem. I guess I've just have to give up and use my old computer to send emails. Unless the Windows XP SP 2 will resolve the problem when it is released, but I'm not holding my breathe. Thanks again. | 234010 | 2004-05-04 05:19:00 | Are you receiving mail OK There is not much that could be wrong to prevent you sending mail. In Properties under Servers - Check Outgoing server is smtp.paradise.net.nz Make sure the box at the bottom "My server requires authentication" is Unticked Click on Connection Tab If you are using a dialup connection make sure "Connect using my phone line" is selected and your Paradise connection is showing in the Modem box Click on Advanced Tab Make sure Outgoing mail(SMTP) has 25 in the box. If you have outgoing mail scan active in your antivirus disable it for a test Have you a firewall installed or antivirus with a firewall as part of it. |
