2004-05-04 08:19:00 | Hi Folks. Are these two related? | Scouse (83) | |
2004-05-04 08:58:00 | ?? Same file. Files under windows are case insensitive, so Isass.exe and isass.exe are the same. Same as ISASS.exe, IsAsS.ExE etc. And the file isass.exe (case insensitive) is a virus/trojan in origin. Now if you are comparing it with lsass.exe (LSASS.EXE) thats a difference, as that is a system file that is exploited by a new worm.

2004-05-04 09:07:00 | Hi GF - many thanks for prompt reply. Looks to me on the Windows Task Manager as if I have Isass.exe. When I try to End Process on it, I get as reponse of ... ":this is a critical system process. Task Manager cannot end this process." Is that part of the lunacy or are my old bi-focals failing me? | Scouse (83) | |
2004-05-04 09:16:00 | Check the font carefully. Compare the "l" (L) with the "l" in iexplorer just above it. Clean the bi-focals. " I " and " l " are quite different to me, but I have an LCD screen which is probably much sharper than a CRT.

2004-05-04 09:51:00 | Hi gf. Thanks again. I take it that the lsass.exe is okay unless it has been exploited. It certainly lines up as a lower case L . | Scouse (83) | |
