234703 2004-05-06 07:13:00 My problem is as follows:

I recently bought a PC from trademe, and I installed Win98SE on it because Iv'e never actually had a computer with that OS on it and something different is fun - BLAH BLAH. Anyway it has been running fine until i bought some CD's off trademe (the free ones you get with computer magazines), and i installed some Pacman game for DOS on it. now i have seen my friends 98SE computer, it quits to dos when you run certain games, so i thought hay thats good i shall try this. so i did. the windows 98SE said "you need to quit to dos or whatever to use this program" so far so good. the game then proceeded to load, then tells me i dont have enough EMS memory - i need 512k. that is mad cos the thing has 64mb ram anyway. (i have a strange feeling i should have put it on pure DOS). anyway the thing then tells me i need to make some changes to my config.sys file, and proceedes to restart my computer, on which i get the windows 98 loading screen - and the animation at the bottom - and it keeps doing that indefinently (it seems). Hopefully someone who knows about 98 can help (for startup problems, I am best at XP)

234704 2004-05-06 10:00:00 Get yourself a win98 boot disc and troubleshoot it from there, head over to www.bootdisk.com to see what they have. You might need to load a new config.sys file.

Or, since it's a new install anyway, boot to CD and just load a fresh install of win98. Not sure if you can access 98's System File Checker from the CD but, that could be anothe way.
