234572 2004-05-05 23:40:00 Every time I go to clear out the temp internet files, the ones under Content IE 5 there is this icon called desktop.ini in each of the alphanumeric files.

I cautiuosly deleted one then two now I do the whole lot, overriding the warning that "this is a system file. One or other of your programs may stop...." etc etc. This is a very minor issue.....

(*sigh* I only have minor computer issues. Maybe I should be more reckless)

Anyway, just wondering why it keeps popping up in those files, just a puzzle, that's all. TIA :D

234573 2004-05-06 00:04:00 The .ini file simply dictates how you have configured that particular folder to display. Or allows you to change the folder display properties.

But that does depend on what OS you are running, and you don't say (XP assumed)

234575 2004-05-06 00:49:00 Wrong actually, Jim B.

The x.IE5 folder designation is widely used in IE6.

These folders all contain a desktop.ini file.
