234565 2004-05-05 23:12:00 Just installed Win98 and I can't remember how to configure extra com ports. Help please? arjay (1202)
234566 2004-05-06 05:34:00 Configure in what way? If the hardware exists, it will normally be recognised by the BIOS and by the OS. If there's a modem card, its software will usually set its port address and IRQ. Just remember that COM1 and 3 share IRQ 4; COM2 and 4 share IRQ 3 for "normal" DOS style software and hardware. Older cards might have jumpers to set the port address and IRQ. Graham L (2)
234567 2004-05-06 07:25:00 After the Win98 install it has given me, Com port 1, and LPT1. My modem is set to Com port 3, so how do I get Com ports 2,3 etc to appear? arjay (1202)
234568 2004-05-06 07:50:00 You have to install the software for the modem and then all will be well. mikebartnz (21)
