| 234558 | 2004-05-05 23:09:00 | Hi all Just a quick question, is it possible to get ADSL over a telstra phone line? Telstra do not offer a 256kbit cable service anymore so I am looking at adsl but do not really change my phone line provider. cheers |

If you currently have a Telstra/Saturn line why not package it with 2MBs / 512kbs cable. The costs are very comparable to Jetsream butm, with much higher data rates. The only drawback I see is paying them $10.95/month to rent a lousy modem. I've worked out that the 1GB plan is about $5.00 more than Jetstarter and the 5GB is about $14.00 more (all per month) when bundled packages are taken into account. Cheers Murray P |

My work is about 200m down the road from the local exchange so we have great DSL speeds but I still prefer the low latency of the cable connection. I find the Telstra connection is far more reliable, Jetstream seems to suffer from performance/outage issues a lot more often IMO. If you have the option of cable I say go for it, gets you off the overcrowded and antiquated copper network. |

| 234563 | 2004-05-06 02:16:00 | That's right, if your home line is on the Telstra network you can't use jetstream. You can buy jetstream from TelstraClear through the Paradise ISP but you must have a telecom phone connection. So if you switch your communications to Telstra you either have to go with the high speed cable or keep a second telecom line for jetstream. | Sb0h (3744) | ||
