234832 2004-05-08 00:57:00 Some say "brand loyalty", still others claim "bias". I say it is simply pride.
Raw pride in what these posters have bought and their inability to admit that there may be something better out there. This is what has led to some of the indignant and rather unhelpful posts listed above.
For my part, I have just purchased a second hand NVIDIA card, and clicked on this link to learn why, after installing it, I'm still getting music though the default CD player that came with win 98. Fat chance.:O
I get default system sounds, though . ;)
Turning it off in control panel is no use as this leads to no sound at all. Sure, I am disappointed with my purhase - but I'll live. There has to be some software somewhere which if I click on, I'll enjoy the NVIDIA card with 56.64 drivers...........
Prreviously, I was with Yamaha, no problems there.

234835 2004-05-08 07:37:00 Well my t-shirts are exclusive. I don't take pictures of em.

And i am willing to admit that I am tied by pride to ATI, despite the fact that I have an nVidia card.

Just possibly.

Just possibly.

Possibly again as well.

I agree here. This appears to me no different to the Intel v AMD / WinXX v Linux type of debate.
No person will win as there is no definitive answer here when it comes to graphic cards either.

True. The personal choice boils down to consumer need or want or wallet.

Just my opinion here.

Kind of the same, im always going to look at the ATI card first as they dont seem (from personal experience) to enjoy overheating and dying!

234840 2004-05-09 23:00:00 True, I am currently biased towards ATI as I have just purchased an ATI card. However, if the competing card from Nvidia was up to the same spec and quality I would have purcashed an Nvidia card and been biased towards them. I'm not concerned who is two or three frames faster, but I like the quality of the shading the 9800 has over the 5950. Everyone has diffierent requirements and should research and make their purchase based on what they like, not on which brand sells more cards. Today's cards are going to be outdated in 6 months anyway so there will always be a better, faster card around the corner. Sb0h (3744)
