1361255 2013-12-01 00:51:00 What would you guys recommend as a file type to convert an AVI file to to make it smaller?

128 kpbs Sound is fine and I realise I will probably loose a little video quality, but what I would like to know is a recommended compromise hopefully reducing the file size by 1/3 or more.

:thanks

1361259 2013-12-01 07:28:00 An MKV or MP4 container using the H.264 codec will give the same quality as an AVI container using the xVid or DiVx codec at a smaller file size, or put more simply use handbrake and convert to either of those 2.
To shrunk it significantly you will have to sacrifice quality but the difference in size between DiVx and H.264 might achieve what you are after without much change in quality. You will have to play around with quality setting until you are happy with the results.

1361263 2013-12-02 01:54:00 Tried WT's free download link.

Dontcha love the 'free' software download game?

Now, which of the Free Download buttons is the 'real' one? That really big one looks good. Oh, damn, that's for a likely bit of malware. Mmmm, perhaps it's the small one buried somewhere obscure. Yes, that's it.

Wow, that was fast - only 8 sec! Let's run it. Oh, dear, no wonder it was small - it's just the loader. Wonder what it loads as well as the program I wanted?

Better carefully check all those little squares with ticks in them. Bugger, missed one. Another bloody copy of Chrome (if I'm lucky - at least that's not going to be phoning home with private stuff). Damn, I just read about all the stuff google accumulates about us.

And then there are all those neat little browser add-ons I get for free. Wow, my display space has now shrunk to 100mm and my browser now takes 20 sec to do anything.

Ok, bit of poetic licence here, and I did give up without running that loader, but the picture I paint has a lot of truth as PC techs will know!

1361264 2013-12-02 02:26:00 What ya Talking about lin - ?? :p

you click on the BIG button ( and theres only 1)

5344

Then to the right of the Description box is the Download link:

5345

That downloads a 25.5MB Zipped File, inside that is the Licence Key ( which BTW activates the trial version on the manufactures site- resolving the need to run giveawayas installer ) and away you go -- Normal "be careful / read what you install along the way.

OR get it directly from Wondershare ( only just found this) www.videoconverterfactory.com
