1340724 2013-05-11 08:46:00 A quick run-down so far:::::

1) I have a new hernia inside/behind the repair for an old hernia - lots of surgical troubles in the near future .

2) Painted my Isuzu Amigo what might be called "Arrest Me Orange" and it was supposed to be "Arrest Me Red" . This job was supposed to be done a year ago, but the smoke from last year's fires in Idaho kept me from painting with all the ash and atmospheric oils in the air .

3) Our dog MAY have a serious case of heartworms - the vet is still checking her out . It's legal to bury pets and humans in your back yard in Montana . The wife does NOT want to be in the same corner with the dog though . That might present a problem as to where then can I grow my tomatoes if she insists on using the vegetable garden for her final resting place . (The wife, not the dog) .

4) The weather is finally getting normal (eg: summer here in Montana) at last . The last snowfall was two weeks ago .

5) I'm running a WIFI Hotspot tonight for a few hours to get this desktopper all up to date and running - but I can't find a few of the drivers, so I may have to swap around the optical drives until I find one that doesn't have Edison's autograph on it .

6) I'll get another bass done soon too - the neck is to die for, it's that good!

7) Gas prices (NZ= petrol, to Upsidedown Land-ers) is/are pretty cheap right now .

8) Everything I have that has wheels, needs new tires (NZ= tyres, pronounced: "Ty-ree'-sz") including the lawn mower .

9) I J U S T ran out of firewood when the weather got warm - in fact the windows are open all night and I can hear the brook bubbling gently over the small dam under the cottonwood tree on the west side of the house, as I sit here writing this .

10) We burned 5 cords of wood this past winter, and I think the temperatures were somewhat warmer this winter than last --- so what gives with that? I dunnow!

11) Haven't seen a Kiwi yet since I moved here . Youse guys aren't traveling much, huh?

12) I have several cases of Mexican beer and can ice as much down as needed is youse guys should all show up at the same time . Pick a number . PS: Montana's 'micro-brews' generally suck; they taste bitter and remind me of burnt plastic . (Don't ask)

13) I haven't bought a firearm yet - and even though the doc says I can have sharp-pointy objects now that my sessions are ended, I don't think I will (but think I should be ABLE to) buy a firearm any time I want, that is . I'm off of buying any more pressure cookers though .

14) I've been playing a lot of blues lately with a small group (drummer, lead guitar, two rhythm guitars, keyboard and me on bass) - but blues isn't well appreciated in Montana . At least I haven't had any large demand for our musical renderings yet . Oh - a couple or three - but that's about all . We play for ourselves a lot and we kinda like that better anyway .

15) I'm still building a few basses here and there, (LINK: . google . com/u/0/photos/112263300797297388332/albums/5864917688623017777?authkey=CKiU5cm-3K3AFw" target="_blank">plus . google . com) but I've also been repairing a lot of instruments too - mandolins and guitars mostly . Refretting, refinishing and replacing parts is a good way to make a lot of money here . The charges for these repairs done by someone else are HUGE by my standards and they aren't even that good to be charging all that much money .

16) My wife and I found some gold (panning in the rivers here) and have found a tidy amount for our days in the outdoors . We are finding what they call: "wire-gold" and it's just like fine wire when we hit it . Maybe we have found 3/4 of an ounce or so - so far . Waiting for gold to go back up a little but the stock market has to come down first for that to happen - and it will!

Well --- youse guys are going into the winter doldrums and weez'uns is just getting wound up for some nice weather and summer activities . We will get useable daylight until 10:30PM or so (NZ= first toilet break after falling asleep) and the towns here all have activities planned for those long-lit days .

I'll send the warm weather back to youse all when I's done with it - OK?

1340725 2013-05-11 09:22:00 Great to hear from you Joe. Like your photos of the development of the new bass and look forward to more when you can. Has woody woodpecker returned yet? Hope you're having a good spring/summer, it sounds nice. More photos of everything when you get the chance :) Iantech (16386)
1340726 2013-05-11 09:35:00 Sounds as if you will be back as a regular contributor...welcome back in advance Joe ;)

Speaking of painting a vehicle orange, here in Napier, I have seen an orange morris 1100 being driven around by a maori lass. It has the personalised plate name JAFFA (Jaffas are confectionery Joe, orange coated chocolate!!)

1340727 2013-05-11 09:39:00 Hmm. That backyard burial thing is common enough here too, but pretty much limited to birds, goldfish, cats, dogs and politicians, so pests and pets only really. Wives are a bit thorny on that, as are mother-in-laws. The South Islanders have been practicing the weather-to-die-for trick in winter, but they aren't as good at it as you folk. I reckon the Vegemite keeps the cold pretty much whacked down.
Metla has leapt the ditch, I guess he must be with the Austr-flamin-alien equivalent of Telecom, because there's nary a peep out of him lately.
We had the hottest driest summer I can remember, that spans back maybe 4 or 5 hours. I can't quite recall where those hours were though. However, by the time summer gets to you it should be dry as a bone, we appear to be quite finished with it most days.
A third user for Windows 8 was found somewhere in the country; apparently Ballmer was so excited he acted a bit weird.

1340732 2013-05-11 20:41:00 Sounds like a great piece of the States you have there

Having free access to firearms and allowing you to bury people in your backyard would be a runner back here for sure,Gold Panning in the morning and burying your mother in-law down in the back lawn in the afternoon

Keep on enjoying the good life.

1340733 2013-05-11 22:12:00 Is the access to firearms and being able to bury people in the veg patch related somehow? Great to see you back Joe, supposedly its winter yet will be 19C today and tomorrow. I have moved jobs, city, house since last year and moving house again soon it seems as Wife isn't happy renting this house gary67 (56)
