Anyways worked for an employer for a few years then last christmas as in 2011 we got into dispute over the Other wise working days over christmas. Basically he tried to get out paying me overtime rates because of the weekend holidays that year. Neither us could agree so verbally we both contacted the ERA. He was told by ERA what he was supposed to do he decided to challenge the decision now over a year elapsed he is arguing still with the ERA despite several meetings. Which he is claiming to be a waste taxpayers money! Thing is the dispute was nothing more than $180 yet he is battling a battle he has lost costing him more money. Now top it off he also is fighting off a claim for unfair dismissal from a previous employee also he is in the shyte for knowingly employing an overstayer.

Gets betterI have not worked for him for over a year now and refuses to pay out any holiday pay owed as he is cliaming I am still employed. Top that off he has done the same to another former employee. So some employers do indeed deserve to be hung out to dry.

1340624 2013-05-11 20:02:00 Not all employers are great coldfront. But the stupidity of the ERA seems to always favour the employee. I have a friend, a professional man, who sold his business, did every little damn thing right by his staff but was taken to the ERA by a woman who wanted cash for humiliation of not being told first about the closure. I AM NOT JOKING. His association reckomended he pay, rather than contest as the defence costs would be far greater than the payout.
