1340238 2013-05-08 06:12:00 The 2Degrees $100 for 12GB/6 months is a better deal. Alex B (15479)

For Cromwell township, Im not sure 2Degrees is up here yet. Is the Nexus 7 3G?

1340240 2013-05-08 06:40:00 No, the Nexus 7 is wifi only, however they could couple their purchase with one of these store.telecom.co.nz (or something along those lines, second-hand). Or if they already have a smartphone, use the tethering capability it has to get their internet access...

How tech savvy are they?

It may be (and I hate to even type the words) that a second-hand iPad might suit them - especially since it has a larger screen. And crApple stuff is ideal for crumblies who don't know what they're doing....

1340241 2013-05-08 06:41:00 2D roams off Vodafone which would be very expensive, the 12GB packs cannot be used in towns where they don't have their own towers. The casual rate is expensive.
Voda or Telecom for data in small towns, Telecom might get the bigger tick for data speed thou .. .

Diff courses for diff horses but I'm in favour of the larger tablets if you are gonna use a real tablet.

1340242 2013-05-08 06:43:00 Looks like there's a 3G version at Noel Leeming, and DSE but its 499 not 399. The $399 one is wifi but not 3G I think Speedy Gonzales (78)
