Surely they will have Norton's to protect things more securely than the south end of a duck? It would take at least a few days to get three card cycles through the clogged system |

I very much doubt a passport is strong enough to send a signal more than a few cm either, they too use an inductance coil. Same theory as wireless charging some of the new cell phones out there. |

| 1339930 | 2013-05-07 07:23:00 | I (accidentally) used Tap and Go recently at Farmers. I was just asking the shop assistant how it worked and she told me it was already done. I was holding the card above the machine while deciding whether to use Tap and Go and it made the decision for me. Very fast.so you could have paid for someone's in font of you if you waiving it around. :) | plod (107) | ||
| 1339931 | 2013-05-07 07:55:00 | With tap and go - what happens if someone picked up pizza and paid with your card willingly then the person reports the card stolen and gets free pizza :illogical: ... exactly the same as what currently happens if you report a fraudulent transaction and stolen card. The card gets cancelled, a new card issued, and the transactions refunded to you by the bank. Tap and Go makes no difference to most banks credit fraud policy... |

As for the Passport matter, I was once held up in Customs and when I got to the plane I commented to the Stewardess that I thought the plane may have gone without me. She smiled sweetly and advised they knew exactly where I was. This got me thinking and I was told later that if you have a new passport they can track you anywhere in the Airport as they have strategically placed Waypoints which log you on as you pass. I dont know if its true or not but Id like to know. :) |

| 1339934 | 2013-05-07 08:40:00 | at the moment a few shops allow you to spend up to $80 without the pin on your card (Maccas is the main one I think) and VISA says they will refund any transactions made on a lost or stolen card. | jonovw (16835) | ||
| 1339935 | 2013-05-07 09:15:00 | Places like Maccas have allowed up to $40 on a Credit Card without a PIN or a signature at all for a year or two now, before NFC-enabled Credit Cards were around... | Chilling_Silence (9) | ||
| 1339936 | 2013-05-07 10:56:00 | You all realise the banks want you to spend money FASTER. The more turnover they get the more money they make, so the odd hiccup of a ripoff makes little difference to them. It is pretty convenient for retailers to for the same reasons. If it goes fast you can't count it!!! | PPp (9511) | ||
