| 1362007 | 2013-12-09 01:09:00 | I have a blu-ray writer on my computer. I do home movie photography as a hobby and have been able to write to a blu-ray disk. Blu-ray disks have a much higher storage capacity than DVD. My two main problems with producing blu-ray disks are the extra cost of discs and the fact that not everybody has a blu-ray player. It could work out cheaper in the long run to put several movies on the same Blu-ray disk with say a 25 GB capacity though. | Bobh (5192) | ||

The more data you cram in, the easier it will be for the data to become un-readable. Ignoring the already stated economics of HDD vs Blu Ray for storage (which I agree with), there's a major "?" over the readability of a 5 year old burnt BD disc. For me it's now multiple HDD for storage and media, and optical is gathering dust. Every dollar I've spent on DVD burnables has ultimately been wasted dollars after a time. |
