| 1361610 | 2013-12-05 00:40:00 | Hi, I have a early 2000's computer running XP that isn't that quickest by any chance but has recently slowed down dramatically. It now lags hugely when opening for example a new tab in chrome, or jst switching tasks in general. The problem happens some time and then sometimes it doesn't. I have run disk defragmenter, checkdisk and done a quick scan for virus using avast. When i did defrag using Auslogics Disk Defrag it gave the hdd stats as normal but had a high spin up time of around 4s. Could this be the problem? Heres the a hijack this log file which if someone could check out that would be great. Also any ideas on what could be happening? | 1361611 | 2013-12-05 01:12:00 | Where do we start Is it a notebook or PC, what CPU speed, how much RAM, how much free HD Space 10 year Old PC's need to be as clean as poss if you want them to run fast, not filled up with autostarting apps  XP is looking a bit crapuated (thats a technical term). It may be overdue for a reload Its possibly also a HD on its last legs . Failing HD's can sometimes cause slowdowns, even tough they pass all tests. Not that common though. disable bebo, facebook, spybot, Roxio, uTorrent, Do you need these ? possibly not NvNetworkService.exe, HPZipm12.exe, MotiveSB.exe, NvBackend.exe, HuaweiHiSuiteService.exe, stllssvr.exe Uninstall Avast & re-install "custom" with only AV & email options. You may need to rid yourself of the AV browser plugin. Go into msconfig & start disabling startup & non MS services , see if that helps. Run Malwarebytes across it |

| 1361612 | 2013-12-05 02:49:00 | As well as all that it's a good Idea every now and again to go through the add remove programs list and uninstall anything you no longer use or need. If the change is recent and dramatic as you say can you relate it to any new software you've installed or settings you've played with, updates etc. Personally I wouldn't just disable the spybot startup item I'd uninstall it completely and just use malware bytes instead, Spybot 2 has not reviewed as well as the older one used to. |
