| 235311 | 2004-05-08 12:31:00 | Nearly every program has lost its help function, eg. when you press F1 or click on help either a blank window opens or an error occurs. This has not effected how the programs operate but only the help facilitates. Rob :( |

| 235313 | 2004-05-09 23:19:00 | Run updated antivirus, Adaware &/or Spybot. At least Spybot will tell you what registry settings and app paths are pointing in the wriong path or missing. A registry checker would be helpful as the values for the help files probably don't exist, have changed or the files have changed. Were any changes made prior to the problem (MS updates for eg)? | 235315 | 2004-05-10 01:05:00 | Have you recently run the "Easy Cleaner" program? Older versions of this program caused problems with Help files similar to what you have described. If so, you should be able to restore the files deleted if you enabled that option when using it. | tommy (2826) | ||
| 235316 | 2004-05-10 02:53:00 | If a registry checker has not corrected it and tommy's suggestion doesn't either, run Spybot S&E ("Check for problems"probably need to run in Advanced Mode), Look down the resulting list for entries like: MS Office, Helpfile, wrong app path or MS Word, Help file, registry key change. Or anything similar. Have your windows and Office/Word CD's handy. For wrong app path (most likely problem) you will need to click "to fix problem" and then point the scan for or type the address to the actual help file/app, eg: C:\WINNT\system32\winhelp.hlp or C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\WDTIP8.HLP. Now I have two HD's in my computer both with operating systems that work. How do I set XP up for a dule boot so I can still stuff around on my old setup, eg test programs? Rob :| |

| 235318 | 2004-05-12 02:56:00 | All sorted with dual booting of my two HDs just press F8 when the computer is booting up and select the HD you want to boot from, so easy. I hope this is a correct way to do this. Rob :) |

| 235319 | 2004-05-12 03:25:00 | On the OS you want to be the default go to: Control Panel > System > > Advanced tab > Recovery and Startup > Settings > System startup, choose the OS you want to start (default) and the amount of time to choose the alternative OS('s). All done, on your next boot you'll get to choose which OS at the looding screen, before the Windows is Starting (or whatever it is on XP). If you don't choose, after the time you set in control panel, has elapsed it will boot the default OS. No need to edit the boot.ini with windows XP.
