235337 2004-05-08 08:03:00 I wonder if any one can help me with a problem I've had for 9 months:On average once a month When I use my mailbox (Yahoo) to type a letter or when I type a letter in notepad or type anything in 'RUN' while connected to the net my letters(a single letter) start running backward and I can't stop it, sometimes all my desktop icons flash and other programmes pop up unbidden.Sometimes it stops when I reboot but as now it's been going for 2 days! It's NOT a virus according to my AVG checker and online virus programmes I've used. It only happens when connected. I have repaired IE and installed new KB drivers and display drivers to no effect.I do have a modem problem that I've had for about the same time in tat sometimes it displays a 797 error among many others which indicates no modem/disabled/faulty modem in display manager.I reboot to clear it. I have TRUST wireless KB/Mouse Silverline 302KS, win xp 512mb Ram Athlon 2600. Nvidia GeForce 400Mx VGA. Advice any one?Pete dinerouk (4690)
235338 2004-05-08 09:22:00 It sounds like you have a Trojan through which a hacker is taking control of your computer. Download and run The Cleaner (www.majorgeeks.com) which should fix it for you if that is the case. Ensure that you allow the program to download its updates prior to scanning. tommy (2826)
235339 2004-05-08 12:34:00 Tommy. Thanks for reply. I have 2 days ago downloaded a anti-trojan application from an aussie company (don't suppose you guys would be keen on that source) and that shows nothing. I have a feeling that it it may be the keyboard as it's a wireless contraption. I have just in the last 5 minutes moved the receiver closer to the mouse & KB in case it was just too far away, should have thought of it before.(they recommend 2 feet) if it still persists will download 'the cleaner'. NB! My previous mail was inaccurate in that sometimes I don't have to be connected for it to go haywire(it just happened while I was on word, but it is normally when I am in Yahoo trying to compose) and disconnected. Thanks. Will keep you updated. Any other suggestions from any one welcome. Pete dinerouk (4690)
