235095 2004-05-07 22:39:00 Can anyone help with knowledge and installation of FX Scenery? Cymbalz (4460)
235096 2004-05-07 23:37:00 Hi,

Is FX a special type of scenery or do you mean general type scenery files?
Dolby Digital (160)
235097 2004-05-08 02:23:00 Blame my clumsy fingers. I meant FS (Flight Sim) scenery Cymbalz (4460)
235098 2004-05-08 03:57:00 Most scenery that you download will have a "Read Me" file with installation instructions. Tom B. (864)
235099 2004-05-08 04:30:00 Thanks for the response. The read me text simply says to 'extract' the unzipped .bgl file. It was not a lot of help Cymbalz (4460)
235100 2004-05-09 21:36:00 Hi there
If your still interested, if you put the .bgl file into an aptly named folder and put in the Addon Scenery folder (fs2004) or ADDON SCENERY (fs2002 if I remember correctly). You will find them in the Flight Sim program folder. Close the folders down then open Flight Sim. Go to Scenery Library which is located under Settings. Select the Add Area... button and you should get a list of folders open up. Select the Addon Scenery and select the folder with the scenery in it. If you have done it correctly, the it will show up in the scenery area fields and the path will also show up in the Directory field. Select OK and the new scenery should show up in the list. You may have to move the new scenery up or down to get it above the scenery that will be superceded.
Out of interest, what is the scenery you have downloaded.
Hope this helps.

235101 2004-05-10 04:27:00 Hi Craig
Thanks for your comments . But to date I have not been able to get the local scenery to display as it did in my old '98 version . For your interest, the file I downloaded for the 2004 version was . . . www . nzscenery . co . nz/download . html
cheers

235102 2004-05-10 04:49:00 Full instructions are on the NZ Scenery web page.

Click on the "Installation Instructions " button on the top of the page.

235103 2004-05-10 05:38:00 Thanks Tom. If only it were that easy. I have searched and not found a page with any "Installation Instructions" heading. As I said earlier I have followed the best instructions I could get to unzip the downloaded file and place the resulting .bgl file into the addon directory. It should have installed itself from there on shutting down and re-opening the programme. Cymbalz (4460)
235104 2004-05-10 05:54:00 Cymbalz: You haven't looked at the page. Across the top of the page at the URL you gave there is a decorative bar. There is a button "Installation Instructions" in that bar and clicking on that will get you the instructions. They are a little more complicated than just place the .bgl file somewhere, ;-) There is advice to get another piece of software from another site (and the link to that works too). Graham L (2)
