235010 2004-05-07 08:01:00 I'm recovering from a WinXP crash, which seemed to wipe virtually all system settings, drivers etc.

Managed to get most things running, but Device Manager tells me there are problems with;
- multimedia audio controller
- network controller
- pci simple communications controller

Assume the first is the sound card, but I've no idea where any driver might be. Could problems with the others explain why I get nothing out of the modem (though I wonder if this is faulty anyway)? What is the significance of these, and how do I resolve the problems with them ..?

Any help gratefully appreciated

235011 2004-05-07 08:25:00 You need to locate the drivers and load them.

The reason for the modem not working will be the PCI simple communications controller, and possibly also the network controller.

These are likely part of the motherboard chipset, and unless your sound card is a separate card then the audio controller is also part of the same set of drivers.

Your motherboard make should have them available on their website.

Can you give any clues as to make and model of PC?

Have you tried a system restore to an earlier date?
