235115 2004-05-07 22:03:00 I'm using a Samsung CD-R/RW SW-240D CD Drive, with XP. I've recently recovered from a system crash and now find that I can't burn CDs - I get the messages 'medium speed error' & 'invalid write state'. Have tried reloading drivers for the CD drive, but this hasn't made any difference. Also, the drive does not appear to recognise files which have been burnt to CD on another machine - it thinks the disk is blank.

What do I need to do to resolve these problems - any advice much appreciated!

Thanks

235116 2004-05-07 23:46:00 Hey Tkelly
Did you writer work before the crash and did it recognise files before if yes then try downloading the latest drivers www.samsung.com or try contacting samsung about your problem or return the product if the warranty hasnt expired yet

235117 2004-05-09 11:40:00 Thanks for the advice. The CD Drive did work fine prior to the crash. I've downloaded and installed the latest drivers from the Samsung web-site, but still no luck. Any other suggestions ...?

Cheers

235118 2004-05-09 12:21:00 Further to my last reply, I just tried to burn files to a CD in the drive, and this caused the system to crash again - but fortunately it recovered itself this time. Given that I haven't changed any settings on the CD Drive, could this indicate some sort of hardware fault with the drive - though it does appear to read software disks etc perfectly OK ...?

Cheers
