235579 2004-05-11 00:15:00 I am running Windows XP Professional.

For the last few days, an MS update (#819696) has automatically downloaded onto my PC. At the prompt, I have clicked "install".

Is it normal to receive the same (?) update each day, or am I missing something here?

Where on my PC are these update files stored?

I have tried to locate them to compare file size and date stamp :(

235580 2004-05-11 00:54:00 i think that there must be a problem with the install of that update, you should only get each one once.

as for where the files go, no one knows :-)
the fiels go into the OS and any temp files are removed, there are no install files left after install.

235583 2004-05-11 03:35:00 The location of ms updates are C:\Program Files\WindowsUpdate
you have to have show hidden files and folders checked in windows explorer tools/view
Also look in C:\WINDOWS the folders named like this are updates.
$Uninstall

235584 2004-05-11 03:51:00 You'll only have the original updates if you downloaded them for the corporate update site and they won't be hidden, they'll be where you put them.
$Uninstall folders are more likely for putting things back to old condition.

235586 2004-05-14 11:56:00 I think that if you go to the Windows Update webpage and click on update history (or something like that) you will get a list of all updates which have been installed on your PC. rodb (1561)
235587 2004-05-14 12:53:00 And guess what?

MS wants me to load IE onto my PC.

Stuff them!! This PC works sweet without IE or OE :):):)
