| 235703 | 2004-05-11 04:55:00 | The USB-serial adapter might work , but if there is host software which runs on the PC there can be problems. Often the software expects a real serial port and needs real I/O ports and a standard IRQ. Try one, but go for a deal whereby you can return it if it doesn't work.;-) An old laptop with a serial port (or a desktop which will cost next-to-nothing) might be the answer. :D |

| 235704 | 2004-05-11 05:19:00 | I use data loggers and have a PCMCIA serial port adapter (SSP-100) for my laptop, it's made by Quatech, works brilliantly. Ordered it from the States and had a dodgy card, RMA'd it with no problems the replacement card arrived before I'd even sent the old one back. | Sb0h (3744) | ||
