235828 2004-05-11 10:07:00 This problem appears to have been raised by someone else a couple of years ago but with no suitable answer so I thought I would try again.

I am using Win2k and the top menubar in Windows Explorer and in Internet Explorer has disappeared (ie the File/Edit/View/Favorites/Tools/Help line). It doesn’t appear to be hidden and the cursor doesn’t change when you move it over the menu is if it has been shrink to a single line.

When right clicking on the remaining menubar (ie the Back/Forward/Stop/Refresh/... line) it also no longer brings up the toolbar configuration menu.

Using Alt-F and Alt-E to try and bring up the menus also doesn’t work.

Another suggestions I found was to deleting the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Internet Explorer\Toolbar\Explorer registry key and letting Windows regenerate it. Windows regenerated exactly the same key with no change in the operation of explorer.

Any suggestions?

235831 2004-05-11 21:23:00 Have you tried a System Restore

Is this the registry key you have already tried.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar\Explorer

Backup the key and then delete the value ITBarLayout.
