236637 2004-05-14 09:49:00 Apparently everything up in the air regarding its future. Run by "Real Groovy Records". I would be devastated if it ceased on air !!

236638 2004-05-14 12:02:00 Oh No :O

I listen to nothing else :_|

That would be a disaster of monumental proportions.

Cheers

236639 2004-05-14 13:14:00 Oh no ! ! ! Only station I listen to ! To lose it would mean that instead of forgetting how to tune the radios, I would forget how to turn them on. R2x1 (4628)
236640 2004-05-14 14:04:00 But it's run by The Radio Network.

Apparently, it's because they don't really get any profits from it - despite running biggie stations like ZM, Newstalk ZB, and Classic Hits.

236641 2004-05-16 10:10:00 You know - I'd be willing to pay a subscription to keep it afloat -say $30-$40 a year to be conservative !!

I don't know how that would work with a free to air - however it's what you think important that counts - so how about it - is this a possibility or not ?

236642 2004-05-22 00:50:00 You could offer them some words of support here (coolblue.co.nz) which may help rub some balm on the wounds if their jobs are under threat. If everyone asks two more friends to do the same, it will rapidly mount up to - err - several. R2x1 (4628)
236643 2004-05-23 00:43:00 I sent a message to Cool Blue suggesting the possibility of a subscription and got this reply -

>>Thanks Mr & Mrs Misty (or Abelard & Heloise or similar)>

Many others have suggested something similar. I think the real issue is that the current cost of securing a frequency in Auckland is about $20M for a 20 year lease from the Government. To make that sort of investment pay, you need to have an income of well over a million dollars a year. That's around 50,000 people paying $30 without factoring in any other costs for salaries etc.
