236564 2004-05-14 09:22:00 Hi guys
I was just wondering whats the difference between a discman that can play CD-R and a discman that can playing MP3 cds? Or are they the same thing? I heard that most cd players can play Mp3 disk is that true?

Thanks

236565 2004-05-14 09:28:00 Nope...there are specific models in most ranges that play mp3's. promethius (1998)
236566 2004-05-14 09:53:00 Most CD players can play a CD with the tracks converted to .cda files (done automatically with Nero, etc) but only those specifically designed to do so can play .mp3 files. Susan B (19)

236568 2004-05-14 10:23:00 No.

To play MP3's a CD player needs a CPU and program loaded. Thats expensive. Its not provided unless you buy an upmarket model that states it is capable. Most are not.

236572 2004-05-15 10:56:00 I share your thoughts Promethius, You and others have advised about the CD players..The buyer needs to ascertain the the specs of the player. Most wont play MP3's, but some others will. Check the specifications.. Bazza (407)
