By rights it shouldn’t, when I get an item retuned to me I check if its faulty, if it is I send it to the supplier who then do there own checks, if they decide its faulty they then send me a replacement and the faulty item would then maybe returned to Asia and destroyed, but most probably just written off and dumped in an Auckland landfill, either way the supplier would get a credit, and the customer would get a replacement .

When I have been caught in the middle I had had to replace the item out of my own pocket . . . which hurts but I would rather lose money on a deal then lose a customer(or 10 customers as the saying goes)

Granted camera's are a little different but should still be sorted locally and in a timely fashion .

236356 2004-06-25 12:37:00 The industry I work in, we just throw the faulty item away and give the customer a new one. If its still in warrantee.

I doubt very much if a retailer/wholesaler can be bothered sending the item back to Asia. The handling charges are probably more expensive than the original cost of manufacture.

236357 2004-06-25 14:05:00 Beet, take Billy's advice and be persistent. The retailer is your point of contact and no excuse about asian manufacturers cuts any ice. It is they that sold it and therefor take on the responsibility under NZ law. As per Metla's and Baldy's posts, a good and sensible retailer will back their business before an off-site distributor.

Good luck

236358 2004-07-19 09:48:00 Ok, another post to add to the pile of pitiful loopy beetles post count.

the stupid camera has still not come back yet,

the company i am dealing with have no idea where it is and the people on the end of the phone cannot grant me a replacement or a refund.............

it may be in a shipment due this coming week? but they cant tell me that?

they dont answer there machines - phones and dont reply to there answer machines either, and as for fax's they must not get them either....

i loved my camera, i just have lost faith in the system, user ends up getting torched it seems, consumer rights? huh big fat joke in this case.
the company i will not be using again, and will not recomend them again, but also will go to say i wont deliberatly sabotage there lively hood, they may be good at what they do, just not with me it seems.

so thats a update, no camera, no replacement, no refund..... no life it seems.

all for the sake of a faulty on / off switch??? have lost count how many weeks....and it is possibly somewhere between here and Asia???? that where it went to get fixed apparently.

236359 2004-07-19 10:04:00 Beetle, I am so sorry you have had this experience.. I recall it is a Fuji camera. I've had several Fuji's with no problems, but that is no comfort for you.

Surely Hanimex.nz, being the agents for Fuji could be more helpful.

Best wishes & a hopeful outcome to get your camera back soon.

Cheers
Bazza.

236360 2004-07-19 11:39:00 I'm not sure how to help you Beetle. Rest assured I would if I could.

Email me with the whole deal if you want to.

I have no idea where you got the camera from and I'm not asking.

I do know that the camera worked earlier as I still from time to time look at the Memorial hill from a certain place where you are. The camera you have (or had) takes good pictures and I'm sure you want it back.

Only a few days ago I had a problem briefly with my camera. Flash did not go but I had not used this since I got the DSC-F828 I bought. I re-read the manual a few times and it still wasn't going.

The flash goes now but only as I found an obscure point in the manual.

I did not plan on taking the camera back to my friendly and helpful retailer straight away as it is about a 2 hour drive from here.

As I understand it now having read other posts the salesperson I got my camera from was not pushy and now drives a truck. I wish him luck for the future.

Back to your problem. There is no need to say who the retailer was. BUT if it was me I would annoy on the phone for a few days or weeks or months.

236362 2004-07-19 11:55:00 If it was me i would drive to Auckland and smash the shop windows.

But then im the kind of guy to jump in the wagon at 10 at night, drive for five hours and then confront someone over an unpaid 70 dollar transaction from Trademe.

Had surprise written all over his mug i tell ya.

Let me know when you come through then. There is no way I want to be going South while you are going North.
