FUJI

One assumes the extended repair time is a consequence of buying a parallel import?

236347 2004-06-25 04:32:00 It shouldn't make any difference Godfather, the CGA does not differentiate between classes of importers. Parallel importers are not above the law.

beetle is entitled to a replacement or her money back, forthwith.

Read about a similar experience Here (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz)

Know your rights then be politely persistent, and escalate the argument beyond the front-line phone person if you are not making progress.

It isn't always easy to be assertive about these things, but it is that or lie down and let them steamroller over your rights.

Cheers

236348 2004-06-25 08:39:00 I really feel sorry for you beetle. Mine crashed on me yesterday for quite a while (I'm going overseas tomorrow!) Thank god, its now all ok. But yes, I must say you are faced with the consequence of buying parallel import. While the law apply, the suppliers will take as long as they can to win the case, simply telling you to ring back every few days.

I know this may make you feel more ripped off, but I have seen the Fuji S3000 for $399 from Harvey Norman (or Bond and Bond or Noel Leeming, can't remember). Seems like a good buy if anyone is interested.

I can not resist saying this, but I knew this would happen, right from the start! Only if you had followed my advice of not buying parallel imports. :( They always seem to have some issue that normal ones don't. Thank god I brought a non-parallel imported.

236349 2004-06-25 09:25:00 Yeah, right
Mine's a non-paralell import, and I dutifully registered it with the importer, who dutifully replied. They then ceased their association with Fuji, so when it gets even worse than it is now, I guess I'll save grief by tossing it off a bridge. ( I don't think it's biodegradeable though, so that might be out too.)

236350 2004-06-25 09:26:00 I'm trying to recall the Fuji camera Beetle has . . looked thru this thread, but it's not stated . SY mentions the pricing of the S3000, & the perils of PI . . But does Beetle have the S3000 camera?

I recall from earlier threads, that she had a S5000, or similar . Correct me if I'm wrong Beetle .

We all share the concern for Beetle being without the camera, and the hassles of getting it fixed .

From my experience this is unusual with Fuji cameras . Over the years, I have purchased 3 Fuji's . . The A205, the 2800, & the S602 . All have performed very well, without problems . .

Best wishes Beetle for an early satisfactory return of your camera .

No, they can't do that SY, the repair/refund/replacement has to take place within a reasonable time, so stalling just digs them deeper into the mire . Even if the delays are outside of their control, they are still bound to act promptly, even if it means replacing the whole camera .

They can only succeed if you are prepared to allow it to happen to you .

I don't accept it, and have always been satisfied with the outcomes . I got a new camera out of Kodak earlier this year when mine failed just outside the 12 month warranty .

Cheers

Sorry, your right. My mistake. But I still think the S3000 is a bargain for whoever is interested :)

236353 2004-06-25 11:49:00 Whats the bet that it will either get lost going to Asia, or on the way back...... or even lost when in Asia.

Why does it have to go back to Asia anyway?

236354 2004-06-25 11:58:00 Well maybe I will stay out of this one.

Just got back from holiday with heaps of pics.

I had to call into Kodak places to empty the memory stick and transfer to CD three or four times.

Just transferred all images to my hard drive.

Thanks Dipstick001
