236062 2004-05-13 10:10:00 i rang saturn this morning to ask why last nights screen savers was a re-run from two weeks ago, i was given the run around for a bit, then i was told that it is bacause the feed is stopping in a few weeks.

i then went to the techTV website and had a read of the forums.

236063 2004-05-13 10:21:00 I don't suppose Telstra gave any indication what (if) they would replace Tech TV with??

Maybe a 24Hr home improvement channel....yeah now that would be cool. Or perhaps a channel devoted to reality TV. Imagine 24 Hrs of "Fantasy Island" and "Survivor - The Champions champions (best of the best of the best)"

Grumble Grumble X-(

236066 2004-05-14 11:45:00 that is very much the same thing.....

as of last week every one knew that TechTV was going to stop and become part of G4TV but as for jobs, most of the staff thought they had jobs with G4.

looks like comcast is driving there customers away.....

I am sorry to see leo go... and kevin and others.

236067 2004-05-14 16:32:00 Well that sucks time to cancel my cable tv as well and do more reading and dvd watching would love a sci fi channel and get rid of some of the usa news channels kiwibeat (304)
236068 2004-05-14 20:50:00 We have sky, but only just (nothing more than the basic package; no movies, no sport, not much else . It is pretty much all crap . Infact, the only thing I use it for is to watch the - with good quality (bar stormtime) - free-to-air channels (1, 2, 3, and a bit of c4) .

We only have it because my father loves the news channels . I went to a friends and he had TechTV, and i spent the whole day watching it . Fascinating stuff .

It's pretty gutting that they are taking it away . . . but I could never get it anyway (Saturn dont service my suburb) .

236069 2004-05-20 03:14:00 Letter I got from Telstra today.

IMPORTANT SATURN TV INFORMATION- TECH TV DISCONTINUED
An American cable TV company called Comcast Corporation has recently purchased the Tech TV channel.
Comcast Corporation has made the decision to discontinue broadcasting Tech TV internationally.
Unfortunately this means that the Tech TV channel (channel button 34) will cease to be available on Saturn TV by approximately 7 June 2004.
Because of the short notice of the discontinuction, TelstraCtear has no immediate plans to replace Tech TV.
We are reviewing our ongoing channel line-up to ensure we continue to offer you a wide and exciting range of programming.

I see they don't offer to reduce the price :-(

236070 2004-05-20 04:34:00 I haven't received a letter yet, but it's the end of Saturn TV for me. No immediate plans to provide a tech channel...but hey you can keep paying the same rate. The vid store is only 2 minutes up the road so pay-per view movies don't hold great appeal. Nope, I'd rather have the lightspeed broadband....at least then I can get my tech fix on the net at breakneck speed. Sb0h (3744)
236071 2004-05-20 05:40:00 could we all put some presure on saturn to get G4techtv??

a few phone calls, a few letters......

might work.
