236521 2004-05-14 07:02:00 How long have you had this problem? Can you remember when it began? Was it soon after adding or removing a program/s? tommy (2826)
236522 2004-05-14 07:32:00 Does windows start normally after hitting enter or does it reboot.

Could be anything from hardware to drivers. Have a look in Control Panel > System > Device Manager for yellow exclamation markes or red slashes next to devices. Use safe mode to get there if the computer is rebooting (hit F8 when windows is loading.

No heating problems? Power suppy?

Are you all patched up for windows, antivirus, etc?

236524 2004-05-14 08:48:00 Try restoring the registry back to a previous working point, eg yesterday or day before. Instructions can be found in the forum's Registry FAQ. Link to FAQs top right of this page or you can use this link (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz). Susan B (19)
236525 2004-05-15 01:18:00 If all the above fail, then look at hardware. Specifically a failure within a RAM module. You can either run a program called memtest86 (www.memtest86.com) ,or, if you have 2 modules/sticks, then try with only 1 , then change over and test again. Pheonix (280)
236526 2004-05-15 02:29:00 I'd be inclined to suspect a memory fault, too. Graham L (2)
