237042 2004-05-17 07:14:00 I've sent a 400MB file with MSN, didn't notice too much slow down. This was back in the day ofcourse.

I suggest a ftp server. It beats everything....

(Just remember to forward TCP port 21 on both routers to the computer you are using.)

237043 2004-05-17 09:47:00 I think you're right Growly. I used to use Terrapin file server and that worked well at least when I was on dial up. Just had to send the current IP address.
When I went to ADSL was when problems with NAT and ports reared their heads.

I had a play earlier on, before dog training class, with Neos, but trust me to choose a Jabber server out of the hundreds listed that didnt work.

No any information or explanation in Neos during installation about choosing a server etc. The Neos window didnt seem to be the same as that descibed in the FAQs either, no sign of any other services like ICQ, MSN etc. Sorry but I wasnt impressed with it. If things dont work first time I tend to discard them.

There seems no way to re-enlist with another server except by uninstalling the program, and starting over. I'll give it one more go when I have time.......

237044 2004-05-17 10:08:00 Hmm...... using the default suggested neosmt.com server during installation works ok, and I could register with ICQ, Yahoo & MSN. Pity it is the middle of the night in Canada, cant try it out 'til tomorrow now :) Terry Porritt (14)
237045 2004-05-17 11:43:00 With something that size I'd be wanting to use a method that will be resumable. MSN/ICQ/etc are far too flaky for my liking, you could compress to split zip files and email them separately. I'd go the way of ftp or a direct connnect server (chat and transfer files) personally. Or upload to some webspace if you've got enough somewhere. -=JM=- (16)
237046 2004-05-18 07:12:00 Update: I couldnt get file transfer to work in Neos either. So Terrapin File Server was setup and used with no problems. Files were transfered at about 16KBps.

Ftp is probably the best and easiest way to go for large files.
