| 237360 | 2004-05-18 01:31:00 | Does anyone have experience in removing searchpage.html? It has taken over a friend's computer and we are struggling to remove it. Basically, it re-assigns the IE homepage without your permission. If you change the settings to a different page, it will always (eventually) come back. It leaves a file in the root directory called c:\searchpage.html (or something like that). If you change or delete that file, it always comes back again next time you restart We tried running SpyBot and Ad-Aware, and neither helped. Thanks Peter |

SpyBot 1.3 has come out in the last few days, and has a number of new updates that 1.2 doesn't have. It may be worth trying CWShredder (ftp.actrix.co.nz) as well. There's quite a bit of literature about this in google... |

| 237363 | 2004-05-18 01:52:00 | Check for it in the Startup Folder. Especially if on XP or W2K check in the Startup Folder for All Users and Default User in the Documents and Settings directory. Have a look through msconfig (Start --> Run --> msconfig) and see if it has an entry in there you can untick. And of course check the CWShredder is the latest version. |
