| 237153 | 2004-05-17 08:33:00 | this is getting into E-commerce and it is a very hard thing to do right. i assume you will have a shopping cart and then credit card payment? the shopping cart is most likely not that hard to do with a bit of CGI but when you get to the credit card part you need help to make sure that it is secure. |

| 237154 | 2004-05-17 09:12:00 | As mentioned, this can get pretty complex and often requires database setups etc. If you do want online purchasing you'll also need to secure it. There are plenty of basic cart designs available in PHP, CGI etc - find out what your hosting supports and have a search round on the net, chances are there is a complete script available for download that will do it for you. |

( no dis-respect to any users that can help :-) ) a number of ISPs have a e-commerce section of there opperation and will be able to do a lot of the credit card part of it. |

You can have a shopping cart system without online Credit Card purchasing. It's no different to a complicated submission form. There is nothing to stop anyone setting up a basic shopping cart, with no secure system and then arranging payment separately via Bank Deposit, Credit Card over the phone etc. |

| 237157 | 2004-05-17 09:31:00 | my fault...... core dumped :-) you are right.... i assumed that he wanted to do the full credit card thing and got stuck on the security thing and ran with it....... if you only need a shopping cart system the as WTF say have a look for script that someone else has done the work on, it will make you life easy. |
