237480 2004-05-19 01:53:00 That Asterisk unit uses Waka Linux, which is a "specialises version of Linux for thin clients ..."). It appears to be an "IDE" disk emulator(probably a flash memory, write-locked) I'm not sure whether it's properly "GPLed". "waka linux" to Google will find the company's site. The problem is that the Windows client programme will certainly be proprietary (therefore not free even though it runs under a GPL OS. There may be such free programmes around.

It wouldn't be hard to assemble the Linux parts --- kernel, a few utilities, and X86Free X-window, and that would run quite well on your hardware.

237481 2004-05-19 05:22:00 Ok. what i need is a operating system like those Asterisk things that. I have seen one running and when it loads it has a menu which you click on what server you want to use and it loads it like a think client (or like remote desktop connection) does. Thats what i need because i have 2 windows 2000 servers and they both support remotedesktop

Cheers

237482 2004-05-31 13:55:00 Pilot Linux could be what your looking for . From the website:

"PilotLinux is a thin client LiveCD .

This means that when you boot from a PilotLinux cd your pc has been temporarily transformed in a thin client machine . If a settings file is supplied booting from a PilotLinux cd will automatically connect you to your Terminal Server . Otherwise the PilotLinux gui will be displayed and give you the ability to manually enter the server address .

Your pc will not be altered in any way . Just remove the PilotLinux and your machine is back to its original state . "

237485 2004-06-02 05:49:00 Haven't had a chance to burn it yet... will let you know. See who gets there first :) Dolby Digital (160)
237486 2004-06-02 09:18:00 Update - just tried it. Uses Knoppix/Damn Small Linux to run from a cd. Comes up with a Windows Terminal Server prompt, I hit return, it loads fluxbox as the window manager and then does nothing. Searched the website (in Murray's P post above) and you have to setup a file on the cd with details of the server you are connecting to. Dolby Digital (160)

Or enter the server details manually . Don't ask me how though .
