Hmmm . . . . maybe, but it has saved my bacon a few times . :-) > Reinstalling is also not to be taken lightly, after you have installed Windows, you then have to reinstall your software, your Motherboard drivers, SP1, Firewall, Anti Virus, etc, etc . After a plain reinstall? I don't remember having to do all that after my last reinstall . I did have to reinstall the Windows security updates though . Maybe you are thinking of a reformat? In that case, definitely . > Much better to use Norton Ghost & make an image of your primary partition, when you have everything right . You can then reinstall the whole of your "C" drive in a few minutes . You can place the Image file on another partition, then copy it to CD's if you wish . You can instruct Ghost to split the files to fit on CD's . Yes, Ghost is excellent but I still think System Restore has its place for fixing most of the little hiccups that happen after installing a program or when the PC throws a rare wobbly . It only takes five minutes versus Ghost's 20 minutes plus . As always, horses for courses . :-) |

I have to disagree with you there, it is very useful, I have used it a few times now > Reinstalling is also not to be taken lightly, after > you have installed Windows, you then have to > reinstall your software, your Motherboard drivers, > SP1, Firewall, Anti Virus, etc, etc . I think you got your self confused there, if you reformat then yes you have to do that, but just a normal /plain reinstall of windows then you dont have to do that Any way in which way is this related to this thread? I think it will safe to say that Ladybug has got the answer to her question now, if she has not she can bump up this post . |

| 237105 | 2004-05-18 08:46:00 | Hello there all - yes thank you have my answer and I have done a scan while restore turned off - to give me piece of mind. I dont know nothing of Ghost, reformatting etc etc so I will just stick to using my system restore, a little easier for me to handle. Thanks Bug :) |
