| 237399 | 2004-05-20 14:00:00 | In my opinion never try to save money on buying cheap routers. Ever. They just cause more trouble than they're worth. Go with: Cisco (If you are a business and have lots of $, best you can get) US Robotics (One of the best) Linksys (Division of Cisco for home users, much cheaper) Dynalink (Top end because of the quality) And perhaps a few others aren't too bad either. Go for one thats worth over $200+. Put simply, you get what you pay for. Stay away from: DSE D-Link And any other cheap routers going for under $200. |

| 237400 | 2004-05-20 21:50:00 | I've had a couple of Dlink routers, and I've had absolutely no trouble with them. Having said that, they're only serving two machines, so they're not being driven hard. I guess it depends on your exact needs. | Alasta (1420) | ||
| 237401 | 2004-05-20 21:54:00 | I run a linksys BEFSX41 router/firewall and it works great. It's trouble free networking and broadband sharing. I don't get the trojans and viruses that circulate via internet connection, although you an see them pinging away in the security log. It's an affordable unit and does the job, well worth a look. | Sb0h (3744) | ||
| 237402 | 2004-05-20 22:10:00 | hmm thats strange i would have swapped Dlink and dynalink around, dlink make some of the best products in the world, but that may be personal opinion. But i agree with the second poster that its not good to scimp on routers/modems they only give you headaches. Try to go external, gives better line preformance. |

It's reliable, connects well, manages the network traffic here without problems and was very easy to configure. Oh, and it was below $200, and DSE support with online drivers, help and in-store satisfaction guarantee is very good. Someone else said the same thing as you a while back and I challenged him then as to why, but he never replied. Just wondering what you base your opinion on, cheers J :D |

| 237406 | 2004-05-21 00:44:00 | I also might add, that one of my Clients uses a Dlink DSL-500, they run a full Exchange 2003 Server (Part of SBS 2003) behind it on their JetSurf 10GB plan, (Orcon provides a static IP with all their JetSurf plans :)), and we/they have had no issues what so ever with it, works like a charm. Also its worth noting that Linksys not have a very good presence in NZ now that TP distributes them, and they have an 0800 pre and after sales support line in NZ (look at www.linksys.co.nz for more info), and produce firmware updates on a regular basis (often every month, go to www.linksys.com for firmware updates).
