237991 2004-05-21 00:11:00 My laptop runs on XP and I am experiencing the frustration of the dialer dialog box popping up every 30 seconds or so. AT&T is my default dialup. I have run the Up to date AVG scan - nothing. The F secure fix for Sasser worms didn't help.
I click on the End Process button for rasautou.exe in the task manager and it immediately reappears. It uses 100% of the CPU availability and cuts down on battery life as well.
When I do connect to the internet, there is a lot of outgoing data, which seems to restrict the incoming and I can't even pick up all of my emails.
Is this a virus problem, or a command in the registry?
Any help would be appreciated

237992 2004-05-21 00:32:00 Could also be "Spyware" which isn't picked up by Anti-virus software. You need programs (these 2 are complimentary) Spybot (www.majorgeeks.com) and Adaware (www.majorgeeks.com) .

Run them and remove/delete all their suggestions and you should be OK.

Also, it may be advisable to get a "second opinion" from another AV scanner , usually the Trend-Micro online scanner here (housecall.antivirus.com). It has been known for some trojans to disable the resident AV.

237994 2004-05-21 23:24:00 Thanks for help. Trend Micro picked up the sdbot.kw worm and I was able to clear it manually using their instructions. It picked up and cured something else as well that I did not record. Much appreciated help. noel251 (5640)
