237813 2004-05-20 06:25:00 so lets review.....

telecom will give you 500 texts to any network for $10......
thats 2c each

boost will give you 1000 to telecom network for $10.........
thats 1c each

the old way was 20c each to any network.

why is the new system a bad deal?!?!?!?!

I know that the telecom deal was $10 for as much as you can but it WAS advitised as "only untill the end of the year", then they extended it and then they killed it. how is that so bad?

237814 2004-05-20 06:25:00 About 20 years ago no one but no one had computers that they could connect to the internet. Time moves on, even monkeys.

Vodafone started texting, the majority of their customers text, to offer a similar plan would cost them dearly. Telecom clutching at this market have raised the texting bar, I dont agree but then I dont agree with the lowering of the drinking age...........18 is still immature if you ask me.

Nope, I am another one who does not gave a monkeys about this (& Iam a youth)

I have to say “ What is the big deal”? about 500 txt a month?

If you send more then 500 txt a month then you majorley need to cut back or Wright longer txt messengers or ring up the person up

It is just like JetSurf 3 GB plan if you use more then 3GB a month then you do need to cut back

It is just a fact of life, if there is a limit then you have to stay under it, simple!

I've managed to use nearly 4 gigs in my first month, according to the Telecom usage meter - still have a week to go till the end of the billing cycle. I am not a heavy downloader, and never used that much when on JetStart. Maybe it's not a 'conspiracy' that the Telecom usage meter reads higher than actual?

Thank heavens I went for the 10 gig plan.

Back to texts .... 1000 texts is plenty in my books, however, there are things in life that I couldn't do without, and it is not my place to judge others' reliance on technology. You can't blame Telecom for making money on an obviously desired commodity though. If they want to make it more attractive to text on their network rather than the opposition's, more power to them I say. Business is business.

I initially was pro the texters after initially understanding that the rug was pulled from under them, but if Telecom initially promoted it as running to the end of the year and they let it run longer - why moan?

237818 2004-05-20 07:34:00 Bah,

Last time I checked my cell phone had a speaker and a microphone, though I'm not sure why :p

And I distinctly remember that last time I singed up for a Telecom/Vodafone plan there was a little clause saying that the terms/conditions/rates etc could change at any time, without notice, just like when you load on bill's software, so if you don’t like it then don’t use it… last time I checked ICQ was still free :)

That’s my two cents worth anyway :)

I'm just taking a stab in the dark here, but does Telecom’s usage meter include only the data part of the frame or does the meter count the header etc as traffic too? (Which could cause the meter to show the actual amount of data that that is sent/received through the system, not the apparent data you get out at each end).

Sam. i would be very careful what you say. there are alot of "immature" users on this forum. me being one of them (19) . unlike other people, i am not scared to loose my logon in pursuit to flame your post.

you cant rate immaturity by age.

237821 2004-05-20 08:35:00 You're right Jams. Apologies to mature 18 year olds.

Being 18 doesnt make one immature, I know some 15/16 year olds that are very mature. I guess my concern (and I dont mean to hijack this thread down this direction) is that the drinking law that dropped the age was the dumbest thing that I have ever seen. The theory was sound but the practicality has been less than so.

237822 2004-05-20 10:37:00 Yes, we ought to remove the drinking age, like in Holland. But the problem is that society is in a stage where doing so would create a small band of alcoholic teenagers.

Anyhow, I'm 16, and I'm not offended by the implication of people 18 or under being immature. I am mature compared to other 16 year olds, but we all have moments where we do immature things, and I'm not going to claim that I don't. However, the proof really lies in the idea that you're not really mature with enough common sense and wisdom until you're 25.
