| 237724 | 2004-05-19 05:35:00 | Hi, Yesterday I was playing a game when my pc disconnected from the net, this happens every so often so i thought nothing of it, i just reconnected to the net . When i reconnected to the net after dialing i got a pop up that said "IPX/SPX or compatable CP reported error 733: your computer and the remote computer could not agree on PPP control protocols" I thought that this was quite strange becasue I hadn't changed any settings, I had just been disconnected and then reconnected to the net. So I clicked ok and everthing seemed to be ok. But when I went yo use MSN I could not sign in, it would say "there is a problem with your internet connection or the service". So i kept trying, and after about 10 or so attempts i managed to sign in. The problem keeps going........if I do manage to sign into msn, I will get randomely signed out after a few minutes and I also cant send or recive messages, they just get sent back to me. I can however browse the web (with some success) but after about 20 minutes websites wont respond to request, its like ive gone offline. I've tried disabling IPX/SPX in the dialup settings and this stops the popup, but i still cant use msn or the internet for an very long. I also read that disabling "Negotiate multi-link for single link connections" would fix this, but it does not help. Is this my ISPs fault or is it to do with my settings? Its is really starting to bug me. Any help would be great! Running ..... Windows 2k, 56k and im with quicksilver. |

Click on the Networking tab and make sure that ONLY TCP/IP is ticked. In "the type of dial-up server I am dialling", choose PPP and notSLIP. Hope this helps Chill. P.S. This may help: www.mcsebraindumps.net |

| 237727 | 2004-05-19 06:12:00 | It is set to PPP and I have no idea why IXP was installed. I have deselected it. I rang up quicksilver and they told me to update my windows drives and windows itself. Could this problem be with the phone lines because Willie_M is having the exact same problem, we live about 5kms from each other. We are on the same exchange, have the same ISP and modem. I'll install new drivers and let you know how it goes. cheers |
