| 238049 | 2004-05-22 18:47:00 | Thanks for asking about the monitor, RX2x1 Nice to know people remember other threads.... Life suddenly got complicated this week by family illness & hospital stuff. In the circumstances, the star-studded monitor seems less important, compared with human life. It will have to wait a while. (And yes, the patient is doing welll |

So just in case, the reason is that you can use a specific address as a sort of filtering system. Essentially it is to protect you from spam. Many sites - forums, newspapers, etc require you to register with name and e-mail address. Some pass these addresses on to spammers and then you have a problem for years ahead. Believe me, I know from personal experience. Microsoft (Hotmail), Yahoo, and many others provide free e-mail accounts. Why - I'm not sure. Presumably they make money from the advertising you get bombarded with when accessing your mail. Most of these free accounts are not accessible through POP3 mail programs - such as Outlook Express. So to check your mail you have to go to the hosting website. You can then forward genuine messages on to your private address which you only tell trusted people and sites about. I have an Orcon account. It is a NZ server and POP3 enabled. And free. Hope this is helpful. Cheers Winston |

| 238051 | 2004-05-23 10:04:00 | Winston Actually, Hotmail accounts can be accessed through Outlook Express. I use this for my "disposable" email accounts and create new ones every 3 months as a result of the junk mail received. Yahoo would allow POP access to the email account, but for a fee :-( Cheers Aaron |

| 238052 | 2004-05-24 02:32:00 | i have 5 email accounts actually. One paradise,One hotmail,One yahoo, one netscape and one vodafone email I used hotmail so that my msn contacts email me there. From my yahoo account.I can set up it so i can read my paradise email and vodafone email.I use yahoo email for saving most of my messages from paradise I then use my paradise emailing my dad, family and close friends. .I can use my phone to read my paradise email and because u cannot write emails using my paradise from my phone. I have to use my vodafone email. I used to use my netscape mail but hardly use it now but i do check it from time to time. haha and no everyone.my paradise email password is different to my hotmail password. My yahoo password is the same as my netscape password. My vodafone email password is different to the rest. ahha Never get confused.I have a good memory. Always name your password with something you are familiar with and that add couple of numbers beside it.Thats what i do. Name one of my password after a special person!!:x:X |
