238366 2004-05-22 00:25:00 My subject line basically says it all - how can you chose colour for text.
In "Formatting Options" one option is "Code" and presumably if you know what the colour range is then you can enter the relevent code. On the other hand......that may be rubbish.

I did try using word for the text and chosing a colour there and then cutting and pasting the result ---- but no joy !

This is fine for changing the appearance of pasted quotes from different threads, but there is also another coding method because I have seen colour without the arrowheads.

However I don't know what it is. :8}

238370 2004-05-22 03:04:00 The [ pre ] "code" formatting [ / pre ] option makes it look like "code" formatting
If you are not careful to use the <Enter> key to end lines in this mode,
you will upset people. :_|
It is not a way to enter HTML code to be interpreted ... it means "don't format this stuff ... it should be displayed in exactly in this format."

Funny, but "code" will work instead of "pre" ... but that's probably because "pre" is defined somewhere in the Java as a synonuym for "code".

The ">" is a forum formatting thing, to show quoted text.

So any colour in postings will have to be in the languiage. And there are rules about that. :D

238371 2004-05-22 03:35:00 I am sure I have seen some HTML coded colour displayed on PF1 Graham!

I could be wrong, but I distinctly recall seeing some "pre" formatted text in blue, and definitely without the arrow tags. My thought at the time was: "I can't do that, how come they can get nice colours?"

238372 2004-05-22 03:44:00 I've seen pretty bright yellow spaces between the words in some results of searches. :D I reported it a year or so ago, but I saw it again a few days ago. Graham L (2)

238374 2004-05-22 05:39:00 Or is it five colour ? When looking at Megaman's sample is there any difference between lines 1, 5, 6. 10 and 11 ??

My reading glasses have a relatively new prescription and I cannot fundamentally see any differences. Is there repetition and only really four colours ?

238375 2004-05-22 05:51:00 Billy. I think it depends on whether the administrators have enabled the HTML tags for the particular editing you wish to do.

For eg:

RED

or

RED

does nothing on this forum but will give you red text on others.

Theres a whole heap of rich interaction we are missing out on. Think of the extra hours we could enjoy while adding coloured text or *. ;)
