238770 2004-05-23 08:00:00 My son has been setting up his own user account on my computer for his games icons. I am the administrator and have internet and email icons and I am just wondering if I can also have these icons on his user account? starfish (3019)
238771 2004-05-23 08:53:00 yup. [Right Click Start button], click properties, where it says "start menu" is selected, click customise, and then choose which internet and email programs to use Megaman (344)
238772 2004-05-23 11:53:00 there is another way
show all folders including hidden goto "documents and settings/your username/desktop" copy and paste the icons from there to "documents and settings/All Users/desktop" this gives access to all users that logon onto your pc. One thing to note here though some programs (settings) still need to installed into the users profile so on first run, the program may ask for the install disk, Microsoft Office is a good example of this (there are work arounds for this but........)

238773 2004-05-23 12:34:00 If your son is on a limited account, then you may need to set the security settings for the game folder to full access priviledges for his username.

Some games don't like having read-only or limited access to the folder they are installed into.

238774 2004-05-24 02:44:00 Ok I also want to transfer all my game icons on my desktop to his user account as I don't need them on mine. Do I need to unistall them all and install them again on his desktop?? starfish (3019)
238775 2004-05-24 03:02:00 Probably the easiest way to transfer the shortcuts is to right click on the Start button, choose Explore All Users then repeat and choose Explore. This will open two Windows Explorer windows and all you need do then is drag and drop the shortcuts from one window to the other. You may need to hold down the CTRL key if you want to copy the shortcuts, otherwise hold down Shift if you find that they are being copied rather than moved. tommy (2826)
