238531 2004-05-22 11:14:00 I've installed SP2 on XP + just installed windows server 2003 onto my server and now i'm finding in network connections it won't show me my Local Area Network connection, it's obviously been hidden but i don't know why or how. Any ideas?

Thanks in advanced

238532 2004-05-22 11:33:00 Firstly what IP numbers do the two PCs have and can you ping? JohnD (509)
238533 2004-05-22 11:49:00 hi,
check that the service "network connections" isn't stopped or disabled. because if it is you won't see your connections in the network connections box, or in the system tray. (although, connectivity isn't effected)

(type services.msc under start/run to access the services settings.)

238534 2004-05-22 12:23:00 Although you'd think that would work my computer feels like not changing, thats exactly what its doing though...no icon in the taskbar etc i pushed the upnp buttom lately, would that of changed anything? ZanteWood (5675)
238535 2004-05-22 20:07:00 Check in Device Manager... check that you dont have intermitint problems with your NIC...
If you NIC isnt regeristing windows wont give you the LAN icon... because it dosent think it has/can-get-to one...

just a thought...

238536 2004-05-23 00:37:00 Check that the Internet Connection Firewall isn't on. Check other firewalls you may have. Make sure you have shared at least one folder and that it's visible to others on the network.

I have now spent two days trying to fix my computer.

I have trawled through what feels like hundred of forums and millions of tips.

What happened was:

· Network connections folder was empty
· Device manager was empty
· Safely remove hardware and network connections have disappeared from next to my computer.

What I did was use add/remove to delete ContextPlus from my system rebooted and everything was fine.

This is quick and simple even for newbies and always a good place to start.

I would like to thank MrCreosote www.annoyances.org
