| 239017 | 2004-05-24 13:46:00 | Forgive this dumb Q from a newbie. (yes I have checked FAQs) I run thru the new posts once a week to learn more and boy do I. Some things I cant use now but will need later. Like that great "Copying CDs" post where I solved a lot of problems. How long does a post stay "up" and are they archived for later access if required? Thanks |

| 239018 | 2004-05-24 14:12:00 | Yes, Apteryx, the posts are archived. You find them by using the Search option at the top of this page. It works like most other search engines (e.g Google) All you have to decide is which are the most relevant word/s to use... Your other option (if you recall a helpful poster on a certain subject) is to search the author's name. That is done by clicking on the poster's name. That gives you a list of their previous posts which you can go back through. It's indeed useful for future reference for us newbies... As for how long they stay up - That depends on how many new ones crowd them out - and whether they become rejuventated by a new reply. Basically, the newest stuff goes highest up the page. (And some topics keep coming back forever....and ever.... but we won't go into that now) Good luck. |

I would suggest that you either save the pages you require to your hard drive, or copy and paste the links to the threads into a Notepad/text file or even save the links into your Favorites. Alternatively you could copy and paste the contents of threads into a Notepad/text file. Do whichever suits you best. | tommy (2826) | ||
| 239022 | 2004-05-24 22:00:00 | I recall a "card file" program being discussed about a few years ago, I think it was Susan who was the one who uses it or promoted it. It always reminded me of one of those perspex boxes that recipie cards sat in - but on your PC. Haven't got time now to search for posts on it, however someone may know what I am talking about. J :D |

Surely Apteryx needs to know about.............................. THE FRIDGE. I put interesting threads into "My Watches" and tick "Save Watch". Admittedly not used a lot - I usually just do a search but helpful if watches are culled now and then. |

| 239025 | 2004-05-25 01:02:00 | And to search for that card file programme, enter "card file" (with the " quotes, so both words are selected) in the Search Terms field,m and "Susan B" (without the quotes) in the Username field. There's a link given in the posting given by the first match. "card" (without the quotes ... just one word, not a phrase) gave it as the 17th match. You need to try a bit to get the best results. | Graham L (2) | ||

Ah, Susan's infamous AZZ Cardfile program :D - Homepage (http://www.azzcardfile.biz/). It is shareware but worth the purchase price I believe to support the product. It won't run on Linux, I have already tried this under Wine :_| "I am convinced that if Susan was only allowed to choose between sliced bread and her AZZ Cardfile program .... bread would lose out :p" |
